1. Pre-Installation Preparation
- Furniture & Belongings: You are usually responsible for emptying the room, moving heavy furniture, removing fragile items, and taking down wall hangings. If installers are hired to move items, they often exclude electronics, pianos, and large breakables.
- Site Conditions: The installation area must have active electrical power and be acclimated to normal living temperatures (usually at least 67 degrees
- Pets & Safety: All pets must be secured in a different area or safely removed from the work site to ensure their safety and prevent them from escaping.
2. Subfloors and Unforeseen Issues
- Subfloor Repairs: Installers assume your subfloor is flat, firm, and free of defects. If they uncover water damage, dry rot, or uneven floorboards during the tear-out, you will be charged extra for necessary repairs or leveling.
- Door Trimming: New carpet and padding are thicker than older flooring. Installers do not always include cutting the bottom of your doors for clearance in the base price, and they will not alter specialty items like kitchen kickplates or some baseboards.
- Seam Visibility: While installers do their best to hide seams, the direction of the carpet pile and layout requirements mean seams will likely still be visible, which is an industry-standard expectation.
3. Payment Terms and Timelines
- Payment Milestones: Standard terms require you to pay a deposit upon ordering, with the final balance generally due upon the substantial completion of the work.
- Walk-Through: You should have an adult present at the end of the job to do a final walk-through with the installer.
- Post-Installation: You will want to minimize heavy foot traffic and wait at least 24 hours before moving heavy furniture back onto the newly laid carpet.
4. Warranties and Liability
- Installation Warranty: Flooring it kc we provide a 1-year labor warranty to cover issues like seams coming apart or the carpet stretching/buckling.
- Manufacturer's Warranty: The physical carpet itself has a separate manufacturer's warranty. This generally covers defects, staining, and wear, but excludes labor charges for removal and reinstallation
5.Stair Warranties
Due to the excessive wear of stairs, there can be no warranty on stairs as manufacturers will not warranty any part of there materials. We at Flooring It KC will always do the best that we can with the products you purchase but can make no warranty for the products themselves.
